TGPM’s trail to the top
February 6, my ultimate favorite day.
We meet for the 31st time this year but somehow it feels as if this is a great first in a long list of many. Some were sweet, some brief, some poignant, some difficult and some trapped in the asylum of forgetfulness. Yet year after year, I always look forward to seeing you. Somehow, I know each year with you is always better than the last.
When I was a kid our “dates” were arranged by none other than Mom. Somehow she was always more excited than I am that she invited tens of guests whom I don’t even know and kids who always blew my birthday cake candles first as I scratch myself raw under dresses that never understood the concept of lining. Do you remember when she had the “Chicklets” come over and dance to the tune of La Bamba back in ’87? That was fun.

You surprise me every year. This year, we met in the highlands of Antipolo and for the first time, you brought Someone with you…the Big Guy. For the first time in my 31 years I entered into the longest communion with the Big Daddy. I walked into the “club” right after lunch, ushered in by the sun and then walked out with the moon and stars to magnify my indescribable euphoria a million fold. Who would have thought all it takes is a prayer cell to take me to 2011’s greatest party?
To top it all off, I come home fat with absolute joy and peace which beckon hot tears of gratitude I cannot even begin to describe. You had me floored.
How can you absolutely top this on our 32nd? Knowing you, you will make my heart leap in excitement! I can’t wait. 
I so love how you write. Happy 31st. I pray that mine will be as meaningful.

… Just to say I am SO PROUD of YOU!… The woman that you have become… the work that you do.. Doing something that you truly enjoy and the joy and happiness that you found in God… You made me so happy… “Sorry about those birthday parties, at the time, I really don want to rock the boat”… I dont know any better….
